2006 Gettysburg Trip

August 7-11, 2006

Because of the interest among the troop for a trip to Gettysburg we have put together a trip this summer as our high adventure program.

Gettysburg is a National Park that commemorates the major battle of the Civil War. The York Council BSA has established a Trail Medal program that allows troops to relive this battle while earning the trail medal.

Our plan would be to leave Tonawanda in a rental van at approximately 8:00 AM, Monday, August 7, 2006 and return at approximately 9:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2006. In addition to the National Park we plan to spend an evening at near by Hershey Park.

The trip will cost $400.00 (Estimate). Fee includes all transportation, meals, camping/accommodation fee, Trail Guide, Trail Patch and a Hat & 2 T-Shirts.

We will have a limit of eleven people (Van Capacity). If you want to go, complete the stub below and submit along with a $50.00 deposit to hold your place. Any deposits received after the first eleven will be put on a waiting list in the order that they submitted the deposit. We need to know who is interested and whether we have enough commitment to go so we can proceed with the necessary reservations for Military accommodations and meals.

This is a very exciting trip and we recommend that if possible, you attend. More details will be forthcoming once we get commitment to go.

We need 10 to make it economical but could go with 8 as long as everyone realizes the price will go up because fewer will share the transportation costs.

Contact Tom Daley if you have any questions
